Tenerife, an antirumor island
The meeting between the team of the "Antirumor Strategy to prevent Racism" and those responsible for its implementation on the island of Tenerife, took place on July 9, 2013.
During the visit, Daniel de Torres, project manager, and Gemma Pinyol, coordinator, had the opportunity to be familiar with actions and initiatives developed in the framework of the Antirumor project in Tenerife. The meeting was an opportunity to share points of view and ideas with Efrain Medina, insular Counselor and his team, along with OBITEN, which coordinates the project’s development on the Island.
During the visit, the “Antirumors Strategy” was introduced to the Tenerife’s civil society in order to begin the Insular Antirumors Network. Antirumors agents, who will be all those persons / entities who want to participate voluntarily in this network, will be key to dispel stereotypes and prejudices about migration and diversity and ultimately to contribute to peaceful coexistence, social cohesion and intercultural enrichment.
